This is such a great question. I plan on answering based on my own personal knowledge, and then coming to a decision.
#1 - Ceramic - I choose this because of the strength and durability. Just like tungsten, except a lighter material, so its not like carrying a huge weight on your finger. Very light, scratch resistant, durable, what else can you ask for! Plus, these come in black, which is my own personal favorite type of color to choose from.
#2 - Tungsten - Basically the same as Ceramic rings, except a heavier weight. Yes, its scratch resistant as well, and comes in more styles than ceramic and is more popular, but i personally like the light weight ones, similar to the last one I chose.
#3 - Titanium - Compared to the other 2, this ring is very light and has been in the jewelry industry longer than the other 2. But i chose this as #3 simply because they don’t look as new as long as the other ones. Yes, choosing the higher grade titanium, like what you’ll find at Triton is a great option. But over time, these can show small scratches.
#4 - Stainless Steel - I personally think this isn’t the best because its simply not as nice. They do come in many styles and have been around forever it seems like. But they will scratch over time. These rings are a lot cheaper usually, so great for those who are on a budget.
Overall, they are all good choices. You can’t go wrong with a ring like this i think. The next time i am going to buy one, I will be buying one of those types of metal. Overall, you cant go wrong with any metal, but there are personal favorites for everyone. If you want to see these styles go to youtube!
If you have ever attended a wedding ceremony chances are you have heard a phrase something like this, “this ring symbolizes your union in marriage, love without end, an endless circle of hope and devotion. And may it also symbolize the strength of your convictions and commitment to live together in harmony and devotion.”
They have brought meaning to friendship and marriage throughout history and the symbolism hasn’t changed all that much. What has changed is the material that rings are made from. In ancient times, precious stones were used to adorn and give added prestige to the ring bearer.
Today’s styles reflect an ever growing demand - particularly with men’s rings - for a rugged and more durable look, finish and feel. Enter Tungsten Rings. What could be more durable than a metal compound that is 10 times harder than Gold or a metal like this that is used on the front plates of gold clubs and on the heat shields for space shuttles!
Regardless of your style requirements, the symbolism of these wonderful products remains the same - lasting feelings of friendship, love and harmony.
I found an awesome ring last week that appeared to be one that I would not only buy but cherish for a lifetime. It was highly polished, had a bright stone that looked like a diamond and it was priced right - under $200.00! Sign me up!
Let me tell you a few things I have learned during and after this ring buying experience:
All that glitters is not gold. The ring I was looking at was actually gold plated but was not labeled as such. They made it seem like pure gold and if I had not thought to ask some hard questions - I would have walked away with a ring that I would not have been happy with for long.
The stores I trust the most - brick and mortar or online - have their products clearly marked. If it is gold, tell me so and let me know if it is 18kt. or 14kt. or whatever. But don’t have me think it is real gold when it is only plated.
Same thing for diamonds. The “bright stone” that I found as noted above was not. OK, not problem - but I want this clearly marked. Frankly, when I continued shopping I found out that I really couldn’t afford this and that is OK for me. Maybe someday I will be able to buy a ring with a real 1/5 Ct Diamond.
Bottom line I can’t tell the difference sometimes but I still don’t want to be misled! In fact the ring was actually a tungsten ring - which I found out is a very hard and durable metal that is really popular in thiscategory. It was highly polished and the finish was lustrous and I learned it will last a lifetime! Wow! I love it.
I also learned that to get a good design somewhere between $300 - $1,000.
I hope this helps you pick out the right style for yourself. My sense is that a ring has a lot of meaning, more than cost, it stands for something long lasting. It stands for stability and personal distinction - you want to get it right the first time. In fact you also might want to find a store that has a 30 day return policy just in case you make a mistake like I almost did.
With so many types of jewelry fashions on the market today - how does one decide which type or material or “bling” is the right one?
Let’s narrow the discussion more for men for the moment. How in the world does a person choose? Well, it is difficult but possible …
Did we mention Ceramic Rings? That’s right - even this has taken its place in fashion - in fact it is gaining in popularity in the US and abroad!
First, let’s take a look at the material. Ceramic ringsare very durable, and rank 9 on the Moh’s hardness scale. Many have compared these for durability and resistance to wear. One of the benefits, for those averse to a “heavy” product is that they are approximately half the weight of other metals. Durable, brilliant, lustrous and HOT … that is why they are starting to take their rightful place in this world.
If you are looking for a leader in the newest Mens Rings fashion industry - you might want to check out mensringstore.com. This site is a monster site … tons of ring fashions and metals. All in one place.
Who would have thought that MEN would want to buy a ring for THEMSELVES? Maybe for their spouse or friend or loved one or even sister or mother but for themselves? They have become a hot item all over the world – from brick and mortar to online – from the newer elements including Tungsten Rings.
In my personal search, I have to admit I am leaning toward the more masculine, the more rugged look of these newer metals. My sense is that they have more of the look and feel for a man and additionally they have a better reputation for scratch-resistant surfaces than do the “finer” metals like Gold.
Here’s a picture of a rather simple Titanium ring from a site called mensringstore.com Personally I like these with a little more personality, maybe something with a Diamond or at least a little color and you can find hundreds of these in a variety of materials and sizes and prices.
In any event, if your man is looking for something special … remember they designed for him. I guarantee it!
There are many reasons but one of the main ones is the look and feel of solid metal. This has the feel of a rugged, solid, piece of heavy metal on the man’s finger but when it is in its final, polished condition no one would ever know that it was created from a 30-step process using Tungsten Carbide Ring powder as its base.
True Tungsten rings are protected under a patent (actually there are a number of patents but the main one is TC.850) – these are rigorously protected under this and other patents and stores across the country have recently been sued for carrying that are made by manufacturers who have infringed upon these patents. These same unscrupulous manufacturers have in many cases cheapened the manufacturing process – results that appear to be permanently polished but will scratch and fade over time. One source for patent-protected and richly crafted is the Triton Collection. I have never seen so many beautiful products as I have in this collection – of course they carry other metals within this collection as well.
This collection can be found at mensringstore.com They carry a wide variety of rings. Good luck, be careful, and happy shopping!
