If you were to buy - let’s say a men’s ring online. What would you want it to come in? A bag or a box? Many cheaper companies might include a ring bag with the order for free. They in reality get these for around $.10 and they look crummy.
Now compare that to a box. A black leather or wood style. Now we are talking. It depends. May I offer a few suggestions for online privacy and protection:
Is the site listed on the 1st page of Google or Yahoo? Yes it good
Does the site accept PayPal? Again, yes is good
Does the site accept credit cards? This is essential in that most credit card companies offer protection in the event you have been scammed, received shoddy merchandise, etc.
Is there an indication that the site is protected or sanctioned by the BBB or any industry associations? I is preferable if one of these is present
Is there an easy way to contact the company and do they respond rapidly and with integrity?
Do the products look like they are quality products and does the company have a clear return and warranty policy?
Although no one is exempt from being taken advantage of, looking for signs of stability as noted above is always good practice. For example, I recently shopped at mensringstore.com. I felt comfortable shopping with them because they offered a written return policy (30-day returns) and a clear, written warranty policy. Plus they were a member of the Jewelers Association of America and they accepted all credit cards and PayPal. I felt protected.
So be wise and look for the signs of honesty and protection wherever you shop!
