The color of men’s rings

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

At first glance one might think this discussion is about the color of the mens ring - the color of the gold or silver or even the color of the precious stones. Wrong. This is about the color of the people wearing them.

Do men and women of color wear the same types of rings as white Anglo Saxons? Truth be told … I could not find a study or research on this subject so we might just have to draw some conclusions ourselves. I think what is more telling is less about the color one’s skin and more about socio-economic factors such as education, training, job types and geography. True, college students buy more mens wedding bands that in any other geographic sector in the country. The reason is quite obvious. College-age men and women are also in the age category where engagement and marriage are prevalent. And, a ring is symbol of that union - whether a tungsten ring or one of the more traditional styles on the market today.

We mentioned economic status - you will see far more “bling” in less educated, lower socio-economic backgrounds than in a more educated and financially stable environment. Bling costs little but has flair and eye-catching appeal, at least to some sectors.

With the better educated and more affluent consumer also comes the demand for a higher quality and more fashionable style with precious and semi-precious stones and inlays. One has only to step foot into a higher end Zale’s Jewelry store to see this phenomenon in action.

Color? Not as important. Money - drives the argument. Education - completes the case. If you can find some more accurate data please let this writer know. Thanks

Men’s Rings or Mens Rings?

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Oh what a difference an apostrophe makes! So, you say, who cares?! OK, OK, play along forĀ  amoment - don’t you want to know the proper use of the apostrophe in phrases like (men’s) mens rings? No. Here is what I care about - style, fashion, durability, price, value, selling locations, inlaid materials … you get the point!

So if you don’t care about apostophres either, and most people don’t, what do YOU care about in mens wedding bands (again, with or without the apostrophes)? I’ll ask the questions and you can answer - out loud or to yourself!

1. Do you care about who makes them? (Keep in mind there are many men’s rings made in third-world countries that have very poor to non-existent quality control measures)

2. Do you care about where you buy them? (Have you experienced the ease of buying online versus in a typical retail store?)

3. How about quality of products? (have you seen the difference in a patented tungsten ring versus a non-patented knock-off from China. If not, you should pay attention to these types of things)

4. Have you noticed the difference between a plain gold band and an exquisite ring made with precious stones or carbon fiber? (Again, you can find hundreds of styles online)

5. Finally, do you care about sizing in mens and womens fashions so that you can buy a his and her fashion design? (mensringstore.com specializes in his and her fashions in sizes from 4 to 16!!!)

So whether you give a comma about an apostophe or not - think about what really matters to you the next time you venture online - if you buy right it could be a lifetime purchase!
